VMHA helped me get my mental health rating increased from 30% to 70%. I didn't feel like it was an interrogation, and the process wasn't a game. They are there to help veterans through what can be an emotionally stressful process for some. I recommend them to any veteran.

I just wanted to take a moment to talk about the great work Dwayne Edwards, his lovely wife, and the rest of the VMHA Team did for me in my recent VA Disability Claim. Dr. Edwards was absolutely fantastic, she was comprehensive and listened to what I had to say.

Given my last experience with this from a different provider this one for sure changed my mind on being able to feel safe opening up and not writing me off like a lost cause like the first one did. She was amazing and I felt heard for the first time.

Talking about why you’ll never be a normal person again is not easy. It sucks a lot. There’s just so much you can’t say. But Dr. Edwards was probably one of the easiest people to talk to about it that I’ve had to. Thank you guys.

I feel so much lighter. I wish I could speak with Dr. Powers a few times a week. I felt like a better person,citizen,FATHER, and so on after that session. She just knows what to say and when to say it….more importantly HOW to say it. Didn’t seem invasive but I definitely opened up, took down the stoic face and shared the real truth about my own mental health struggles and fears. Yes I said it…..FEARS.

I have not spoken about my issues with anyone since my separation and have spent 30+ years suffering with my mental health state since the military. The process of opening up after all this time has been very difficult, but my experience with VMHA has made this process a little easier.
